About us

Making legal documents easier to create

Captain.Legal is an online service for creating customisable legal documents for individuals, entrepreneurs, non-profits and businesses.

Why Captain.Legal exists

Everyday legal paperwork is often harder than it needs to be. Information is scattered, the language is technical, and templates found at random online rarely come with enough explanation.

Captain.Legal was built to make these tasks easier to understand. Users choose a template, answer questions written in plain language, and receive a document based on their answers in PDF and Word formats.

The founder

Damien Delmotte

Damien Delmotte founded Captain.Legal. He leads the development of the service, its international rollout, and the ongoing improvement of the user experience.

Captain.Legal grew from a straightforward idea: technology can make routine legal documents quicker and clearer to prepare, provided the service is honest about what it does and where its limits lie.

How documents are prepared

A user's answers select and complete the relevant clauses. Each document page explains what the document is for, which information is needed, and when professional advice may be the safer choice.

Content and templates are reviewed when the law or common practice changes. The update date shown on each page helps readers identify the version they are using.

What Captain.Legal does not do

Captain.Legal publishes and generates legal document templates. It is not a law firm and does not provide personalised legal advice.

For a dispute, a complex arrangement, a substantial financial matter or any uncertainty, we recommend speaking to a licensed legal professional in the relevant country.

Clear, accessible information

Users should be able to identify who operates the service, how documents are generated, and who to contact. Our legal pages describe the operating company, the available plans, each party's responsibilities, and how personal data is handled.

Available in 18 countries

A shared language does not mean shared law. Documents are assigned to a specific country, and users should check that they are browsing the catalogue for the place where the document will be used.
