Terms and Conditions of Sale
Last updated: 1 November 2026
1. Purpose and scope
These Terms and Conditions of Sale (the “Terms”) apply, without restriction or reservation, to all contractual relations between Camines LLC (“Captain.Legal”, “we”) and any user, whether a consumer or a business (the “User”, “you”), who places an order on the website www.captain.legal from Ireland.
Each order implies full acceptance of these Terms, which the User confirms having read before confirming the order, in accordance with the pre-contractual information requirements of the Consumer Rights Act 2022. The applicable Terms are those in force on the date of the order.
2. Definitions
“Document”: a legal document template generated and personalised from the answers given by the User in the interactive questionnaire, made available in PDF and, where provided, Word format.
“Consumer”: an individual acting for purposes that are wholly or mainly outside that individual's trade, business, craft or profession, within the meaning of the Consumer Rights Act 2022. “Trader” or “business”: any person acting for purposes relating to their trade, business, craft or profession.
3. Services offered
Captain.Legal provides a service for generating, personalising and downloading legal document templates through an interactive questionnaire. The Documents are supplied for information and drafting purposes only and do not constitute legal advice or individual legal assistance. Captain.Legal is not a firm of solicitors or barristers and does not provide legal services regulated by the Legal Services Regulatory Authority. For complex situations, we recommend consulting a solicitor in Ireland.
4. User account
Some features may require an account. The User undertakes to provide accurate information and is solely responsible for keeping their login details confidential. Captain.Legal may suspend or close any account used fraudulently or in breach of these Terms.
5. Ordering process and formation of the contract
The User selects a Document, completes the questionnaire, previews the result and then confirms the order. Confirmation, preceded by acceptance of these Terms, concludes the contract. Contracts concluded by electronic means are valid under the Electronic Commerce Act 2000. In accordance with the Consumer Rights Act 2022, the Consumer receives confirmation of the contract on a durable medium (email).
6. Prices
Prices are shown in euro (€), inclusive of VAT where applicable. Some Documents are offered free of charge. The applicable price is the one displayed when the order is confirmed. As Camines LLC is established outside the European Union, any Irish VAT due on electronically supplied services is accounted for in accordance with the applicable rules.
7. Payment
Payment is made online, in a single instalment, through the secure PayPal payment service (PayPal account, credit card or debit card). The order is only recorded once payment has actually been confirmed. Captain.Legal never has access to the User's full card or bank details.
8. Supply of the Document
Once payment is confirmed, the User has immediate access to the download. A download link valid for 48 hours and a receipt are sent by email. Failure to receive an email because of an incorrect address or a spam filter does not engage Captain.Legal's liability; we will nonetheless use reasonable means to restore access.
9. Right to cancel
Under the Consumer Rights Act 2022, a Consumer who concludes a distance contract generally has a cancellation period of 14 days. However, the right to cancel is lost for digital content not supplied on a tangible medium where supply has begun with the Consumer's express prior consent and the Consumer has acknowledged that the right to cancel is thereby lost.
By confirming the order and downloading the Document, the Consumer expressly requests immediate supply, acknowledges that the Document is supplied in full upon download and acknowledges the loss of the right to cancel. No refund can therefore be claimed on that basis.
10. Statutory rights in relation to digital content
The Consumer benefits from the statutory rights relating to digital content and digital services under the Consumer Rights Act 2022 (conformity with the contract, and remedies of bringing into conformity, price reduction or termination), within the limits inherent in a Document supplied as a configurable template. In the event of a demonstrated technical defect preventing access to the Document or affecting its integrity, the User should contact customer service as soon as possible so that a solution (new access, regeneration) can be provided.
11. Licence of use
Supply of a Document grants the User a personal, non-exclusive and non-transferable licence limited to their own private or professional needs. In particular, it is prohibited to resell, distribute, republish or commercially exploit the templates, models or content of the website, or to extract or re-use substantial parts of Captain.Legal's databases.
12. User obligations
The User undertakes to use the website and the Documents in good faith and for their intended purpose. The User is responsible for the accuracy of the information entered in the questionnaires, on which the relevance of the generated Document depends, and must have a lawful basis for any third-party personal data they enter.
13. Liability
The Documents are templates that must be adapted and checked according to each User's specific situation. Captain.Legal has no advisory duty and cannot be held liable for the use made of the Documents or for their legal, financial or tax consequences.
Save in the case of fraud or gross negligence and to the extent permitted by law, Captain.Legal's liability is limited to the amount actually paid for the order concerned, and liability for indirect or consequential loss is excluded. Nothing in these Terms excludes or restricts any right or remedy of a Consumer that cannot lawfully be excluded or restricted, including the protection against unfair terms provided by the Consumer Rights Act 2022.
14. Force majeure
Captain.Legal is not liable for any failure to perform its obligations caused by events beyond its reasonable control, including failures of networks, technical service providers or payment services.
15. Complaints and dispute resolution
For any complaint, the User may contact customer service through our contact form; a reply will be given within a reasonable time. If no satisfactory solution is found, the Consumer may seek information from the Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (ccpc.ie), use the Small Claims procedure of the District Court for eligible claims, or, for cross-border disputes, contact the European Consumer Centre Ireland (eccireland.ie).
16. Personal data
Data collected when placing an order is processed in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the Data Protection Act 2018 and our Privacy Policy. It is used to process the order, send the Document and the receipt, and comply with legal and accounting obligations. The competent supervisory authority in Ireland is the Data Protection Commission (DPC).
17. Intellectual property
All elements of the website and the templates remain the exclusive property of Captain.Legal and are protected by the Copyright and Related Rights Act 2000, including the database right. Nothing in these Terms transfers any intellectual property right, except the licence referred to in section 11.
18. Amendment, severability and governing law
Captain.Legal reserves the right to amend these Terms at any time; the Terms accepted at the time of the order apply. If any provision is held invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in full force.
These Terms are governed by Irish law, without prejudice to the mandatory consumer protection provisions. Failing an amicable solution, disputes shall be submitted to the courts of the State of New Mexico (United States), without prejudice to the mandatory rules that allow a Consumer to bring proceedings before the competent courts of Ireland, where the Consumer is domiciled.
